Cuando escuché por vez primera esta canción se me cayeron las lágrimas. Viste cuando vas en público, en el bondi que es cuando viajo al job, y pum! La visión de estar frente al encanto absurdo de la música, la ciudad de la furia que pasa a velocidad abajo de la autopista. Headphones HQ Sony que la música de los Soulsavers se escucha exquisita. Vuelo con su música enigmática, religiosa sin serlo, de clímax que antes, durante y después de Gahan sigue siendo cautivante.

Aunque el reci de Depeche en Argentina, Estadio Único de La Plata @ MAR2018 a nivel visual fue una cagada, la entrega de la banda fue total! Fuímos unos afortunados de estar allí.

El período Gahan tiene una profundidad lírica que espanta todo lo demás en la vida.

Los dos records que hizo con SoulSavers son WOW

A principios del siglo XXI (2003) descubrí la música soloist de Dave Gahan.

Quedé prendado @ 2007 con Kingdom inmediatamente. Me la apropié y la hice mía como con tantas creaciones de otrxs para enriquecer mi vida y así sean parte de ese altar inmanente, halo invisible que me rodea que me llevaré al cielo en my eternal trip.

Me pasó que 2007 fue el año que descubrí SoulSavers, año en el que Mr. Gahan publica un discazo. Unos años después estaba metido Gahan creando cosas con ellos. Como fan de Depeche since 1990 fue un hilo rojo donde estábamos todos conectados por la música, nos juntó el viento. Wave Sounds. Una cosa llevó a la otra y pum a revolver as usual.

2007 fue un añazo @ my life. Como tantos anteriores, como tantíssimos después hasta el día de hoy.

La participación en Ocean de Goldgrapp de 2018 también quedó como anthem permanente & mantra.

Me encanta tantíssimo Mark Lanegan.

Sonó en mi vida varios años diversos no contiguos del siglo XXI A LOT.

Deus Ibi Est

Todo gracias al disco WOW que hizo con Isobel Campbell back in 2006 con Ballad of the Broken Seas, al cual le descubrí gemas preciosas, y a la chispita posterior que prendió junto a PJ Harvey con algunas collabs que hicieron together. Ésta por ejemplo. Revolver otra.

Ahhhh! Qué vida tan diferente tenía back then @ 2006 / 2007! Y esta era mi música. A ver si ibas a creer que todo era EDM y Kumbia ao my life?

Fue una preciosíssima cancioncita la que me acompañó durante those years como mantra.

Pero lo que me llamó poderosamente la atención fue que haga de vocalista en Kingdom of Rain de la banda norteamericana Soulsavers. Me copé @ 2007 con ellos y revolví toda su discog y salió este Best Of del carajo. Es que me había enamorado completamente de ese sonido gospel religioso afroamericano sureño de USA de la supersong Revival.

A este disco le saqué dos gemas increíbles. Album espiritual infaltable. Es una misa cristiana.

A este disco ⬇ le saqué esta gema hymn anthem mantra. Mon Dieu qué bellos tunes y qué precisa poesía!

Broken podría haber sido my middle name pero a nadie se le ocurrió

En ese revolver deep me encuentro con que Dave Gahan también hizo de vocalista de los Soulsavers entre proyecto y proyecto. Tienen anthems juntos!

De 2007 es este himno religioso super powerland de Dave Gahan, no es casualidad!

Last but not least

Basada en la versión de Lanegan (1990*) fue que Kurt Cobain hizo super famosa una canción en el MTV Unplugged in New York del 93, a bluegrass song circa 1870 del sur de los apalaches, autor desconocido: Where Did You Sleep Last Night?

Originalmente la canción folk se llamaba In The Pines interpretada y hecha famosa por Lead Belly en 1944. 

Yo a los veinte aullaba con la versión de los Nirvana porque fuí FAN unos años durante 1992/93/94/95. Esos años toxi-alucis de los 90s!

*Por eso se lo llamó el godfather del grunge. Fue el primero en hacer lo que sería inspiración para las bandas grunge de los noventas: Nirvana, Pearl Jam, Soundgarden.

Haciendo este post el primer día de junio de 2021 redescubro este disco del cual tenía dos gemas solamente. Me parece casi perfecto. Se ve que no lo había escuchado properly.

Una cancionaza de lo más Depeche hecha por Goldfrapp. Enigmática y oscura, muy Gahan voice etapa Soulsavers, una base electrónica súper súper DM, synths quite distortion 2009 como en Sounds of the Universe. El contrapunto de las dos vocales es outstanding XL.

Soulsavers (Again)

Gracias a mi blog personal recordé que los descubrí en 2007.
Nunca más dejé de escucharlos. Son imprescindibles en mi vida.
Con Mark Lanegan, con Dave Gahan, son increíbles.
Creo que con ese sonido religioso sureño de gospel de USA que tienen sonarán forever in my life.
Es música religiosa sin serlo, sin pertenecer más que al culto hedonista y sufrido de la humanidad toda.

Curioso dato: Este discazo salió en Agosto de 2009, cuando la vida estaba pariendo a new me.

Y por aquí mi Best Of que estoy renovando en 2019 porque as usual encontré en alta calidad su discog.
